Who We Are and What We Do

The Main Street Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charity established in 1995 that brings people together who care deeply about their community and seek to improve its quality of life. As a community foundation we are committed to connecting donors with what they care about through charitable giving. The Main Street Community Foundation's mission is to help assure the long- term well- being of the communities we serve by encouraging and promoting:

  • Planned Giving
  • Prudent Management of Assets
  • Responsible Distribution of Funds

We accomplish this by:

Talking with donors about their philanthropic interests and finding ways to achieve their goals; most often by helping them to set up permanent endowments in which the income will be used in perpetuity to serve the cause or group the donor requests;

  • Providing support to local organizations for projects that make a difference;
  • Bringing people together to strengthen and share resources; and
  • Safeguarding the assets in our trust.

The Main Street Community Foundation addresses a broad range of community goals rather than focusing on one specific use. In this way, it is able to meet changing needs and provide support to what matters most to the people who live and work in the cities and towns of this region.

As a Community Foundation we are set up to serve a specific geographic area which includes the towns of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott, Connecticut (USA).
